At the most recent meeting with PG&E management about the changes to Applicant Design and Service Planning, management and the Union agreed it is necessary to improve PG&E’s efficiency and affordability, but the Union had deep concerns regarding location security, jurisdiction, and not eliminating necessary work.  Here are the highlights of the meeting:

  • Replacing Estimators: Management has no intention to replace estimators with applicant design or contractors
  • Layoffs and Voluntary Buyouts: Management has no plans at this time for layoffs or voluntary buyouts, but if FTE savings are needed they expressed a preference for using attrition to meet those needs
  • Relocations: Management said for any resulting relocations, would first be filled through voluntary moves and incentives
  • Impacts:  Impacts to employees would be negotiated and members will have advance notice.  The Union will work hard to engage all affected members and begin ad-hoc negotiations as soon as practical

No proposals were made and negotiations on any potential impacts have not even begun.
