ESC Local 20 Women’s Committee Initial Meeting: Tuesday, July 16th from 5:30 – 7pm
Please join us at the Union Hall (810 Clay St., Oakland) or via video conference for an important opening meeting. We will be identifying common issues we face as women, discussing possible framework of our mission, goals, and structure, and planning immediate next steps. Dinner will be provided, so please RSVP through the survey link above.
Only decades ago, unions and other organizations formally limited the participation of women and people of color or organized them into separate unions. Although such restrictions are no longer in place, genuine, systemic equality for women at the workplace, in their unions, and within the labor movement is still unrealized.
Bringing a sharp focus to issues that impact the lives of working women will strengthen our Union and benefit all members of ESC Local 20, IFPTE widely. Fairness and equality are key principles that guide the work of ESC Local 20, IFPTE and we strive for broad application of these principles for all our members, both inside and outside the workplace.
To that end, we are exploring interest in building an ESC Local 20 Women’s Committee.
