HCA Healthcare’s priority remains protecting our colleagues and patients. During the COVID-19 pandemic, many of our facility teams are on the frontlines of delivering care. In an effort to relieve some of the concern COVID-19 caregivers have about possible exposure of their families, a special hotel option is being offered to colleagues who provide direct care for COVID-19 positive patients or COVID-19 persons under investigation (PUIs).
Caregivers who are providing direct care to COVID-19 positive patients and PUIs now have the option to stay at a designated hotel at the expense of HCA Healthcare. This coverage will apply during the previously defined pandemic period (through May 16 – unless the COVID-19 national emergency period ends sooner) and will be available on the days the caregiver is working at the hospital and for up to five days following an onsite shift.
Assuming the weekly schedule is finalized in advance, hotel needs should be submitted via the COVID-19 hotel form by the prior Wednesday for the upcoming week. Last-minute schedule changes based on COVID-19 volume after Wednesday will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Hotel room rate, taxes and parking will be direct-billed to HCA Healthcare and subsequently allocated to the applicable facilities to capture as COVID-19 related expenses. All other personal charges are the responsibility of the caregiver.
NOTE: Caregivers are not required to follow this process if they will be staying at a hotel that is offering free lodging for caregivers.
