Every three years, delegates from IFPTE unions across the U.S. and Canada come together to debate, learn, and make critical decisions about the direction of the International. The International Convention is also an important time for ESC members from different units to learn about one another and build labor solidarity across industries. Despite the challenge of holding virtual sessions, this year’s Convention was very successful — ESC’s delegates brought our members’ experiences and ideas to the forefront and were standout leaders of crucial discussions.
We are proud to say that ESC President John Mader was reelected as a Western Area VP to the International’s Executive Council! Additionally, IFPTE delegates elected our new International President, Matt Biggs, and International Secretary-Treasurer, Gay Henson. Congratulations to all, and we look forward to their outstanding leadership.
IFPTE also said goodbye to some retiring leaders whose guidance and direction have been a massive boon to ESC members. In particular, we congratulate outgoing International President, Paul Shearon, who is retiring after 15 years on the Executive Council. Paul, we thank you for your many years of dedicated service to IFPTE members and wish you a joyous and relaxing retirement.
