Last week’s bargaining session left the ESC national bargaining team feeling disregarded and disrespected. It’s clear that the values demonstrated by Kaiser differ significantly from our own. Management’s disheartening lack of engagement persisted over the three crucial bargaining days – a stark departure from the norm we’ve experienced throughout our longstanding relationship. We were promised a complete economic proposal by the end of the August bargaining session and were met with nothing concrete other than a few back-door proposals that included alarming takeaways.

Some Coalition unions are voting to authorize an unfair labor practice strike to protest Kaiser’s bad-faith bargaining. We are preparing to stand in solidarity with our Coalition sisters and brothers and join them in a sympathy strike. It’s clear that Kaiser plans to divide the Coalition, but we will stay strong and united. It’s time for Kaiser to return to the bargaining tables and work with all the unions to bring these negotiations to a successful conclusion.
