Dear ESC-Represented Walk-in Care APCs,

Your bargaining committee continues to work hard to come to a fair agreement with Sutter relating to water filtration systems, PUIs, and the outstanding proposals for our final contract. We met with Sutter on March 1st and 2nd to bargain over the issues relating to PUIs, and we are working on scheduling meetings for next week, as mandated by the NLRB. We have also demanded that Sutter agree to schedule set recurring meetings for contract bargaining to ensure we reach a final contract quickly.

Water Filtration Systems: 

Sutter has agreed to bring back countertop filtration systems that provide cold and hot filtered water. Sutter must go through their procurement department to purchase these systems, and we do not yet have a timeline for their delivery and installation. So, in the meantime, Sutter has agreed to provide bottled water. If you are not receiving water bottles, please let us know as soon as possible. Once we hear from Sutter about the timeline for installing the new water filtration systems, we will let everyone know. 

HEPA Filters and Ventilation Systems:

No new updates from negotiations, but Sutter informed us that they initiated the process for engaging Sutter’s Infectious Disease Control in analyzing the air and the patient rooming process. That includes looking at the time needed to perform the tasks (cleaning and vitals).

Signage:

Sutter will continue evaluating the signs providing access instructions to patients.

30 Minute PUI Visits:

Sutter is reviewing this issue in conjunction with the air filters. 

In addition to negotiations over Sutter’s unilateral changes in working conditions, we are continuing to work hard to reach TAs on the remaining issues on the table in our contract negotiations.
