ESC mourns the passing of AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka today, and we wish to extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends. President Trumka was an unparalleled champion for workers’ rights and a true leader of the labor movement. His loss will be felt by all working people.
On Juneteenth, we celebrate liberation and honor the sacrifices and contributions Black Americans have made to the labor movement. Yet the struggle for equality continues. While many are aware of the historical significance of this day, few know about its connection to the struggle for workers’ rights and equality for Black workers.
