Your ESC Local 20 Bargaining Team is pleased to announce that your contract has been ratified with 82.2% yes votes! This contract achieves many key bargaining priorities, like 2.25% across-the-board wage increases and no healthcare take-aways.
Earlier this month, we proposed a 5% per year increase for 3 years — on Thursday, management REJECTED our proposal and only offered 1% for 6 months, then 0.5% for the next 6 months, repeated for three years. While we strive to celebrate Black History year-round, in recognition of Black History Month, we want to take the opportunity to feature some incredible Black labor leaders at ESC Local 20. Read on to meet some of ESC Local 20 Black member leaders, past and present, who broke barriers and fought — and continue to fight— for economic mobility, stability, and equity on the job.
ESC Local 20 pledges our commitment to the Black Lives Matters movement. We stand with those in the labor movement who will fight for equality for our Black brothers and sisters. We stand against the use of qualified immunity and union contracts to shield police from the consequences of oppressive violence. Unions have an important role to play in the constant struggle for justice, and we will not allow them to be co-opted to uphold systemic racism.
ESC Local 20 is so proud of our healthcare heroes on the front lines who are fighting hard to provide care to our patients amid the surge of COVID-19, and we are making sure that they are prioritized to receive the COVID-19 vaccine so they can continue to be the heroes our communities need.

The Executive Board of the Engineers and Scientist of California Local 20, IFPTE is proud to announce Francisco “Frankie” Preciado as the new Executive Director of ESC Local 20, and would like to express our deep appreciation to Karen Sawislak for her leadership and commitment to this union as the Executive Director for nearly 10 years.
